Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson led a panel of student judges during Columbia University Dining’s first-ever Food Fight competition among the university’s three residential dining halls last month. Each year, Ferris Booth Commons, JJ’s Place and John Jay duke it out during the Battle of the Dining Halls, a week of friendly competition for student loyalty that doubles as a fun distraction heading into final exams. This year, the teams kicked it up a notch with the Food Fight event. It was so successful that Columbia Dining plans to include the competition in its annual event schedule moving forward.
