School Nutrition Department Collaborates on Senior Dining Program

Maine's RSU-25 school district is collaborating with the town of Bucksport on a senior feeding project to make meals at centers managed by the Bucksport Bay healthy Communities organization more attractive, reports [2] the Bangor Daily News. The school district nutrition services department will work with a registered dietitian to develop a menu that meets the nutrition needs of seniors, and then school foodservice staff will prepare the food, as much of it scratch-made as possible. The collaboration between the senior dining program and the school nutrition department is intended as a model that, if successful, can be adapted to other communities.
