Ahold appoints two US FS execs

Columbia, MD—Royal Ahold NV has appointed Robert Aiken and Garry Brown to senior executive positions at its U.S. Foodservice unit. The two veteran executives replace officers dismissed in wake of the accounting scandal at US Foodservice that also produced major shakeups at Ahold.

Aiken was named executive vp for strategy with special responsibility for company-wide governance. He had previously served as president of Metz Baking Co. (now part of Sara Lee Corp.) and as president of Milwaukee Sign Co. Garry Brown, a consultant specialist in restructuring troubled business, was appointed senior vp-procurement. He previously was a consultant for A.T. Kearney and Alix Partners.

Ahold CEO Anders Moberg and new US Foodservice CEO Lawrence Benjamin are attempting to restore the value of US Foodservice following the disruptions caused by the accounting scandal. Those disruptions included the resignation of company founder/former CEO James Miller and a number of other senior officers. Ahold has yet to decide the unit’s ultimate fate.
