Chartwells has opened Outtakes kiosks to serve students meals and snacks throughout the school day at East Grand Rapids (MI) High School. It is the latest site in a series of similar venues in the Midwest for the company.
The service is designed to capture a portion of the lunch business on the open campus as well as to provide students too time-strapped to stand in cafeteria lines an alternative way to get a nutritious, reimbursable meal. It also gives students an alternative to grab something to eat between classes or before going to afterschool activities. The choices include breakfast and lunch sandwiches, fries, salads, nutrition/cereal bars and fruit. The district has projected revenues of up to $500 a day.
