Noted artisan bread baker La Brea Bakery has opened its first bakery cafe on a college campus at Pepperdine University. The chain, which maintains storefront locations in Los Angeles and Anaheim and kiosks in eight other sites including a pair of airports, has been notable for its artisan bread products since it was founded in 1989 by James Beard Award winning pastry chef Nancy Silverton.
The Pepperdine location will be operated under the auspices of campus dining services provider Sodexo. It will be open all day during the week and serve a selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, desserts and Peets branded coofee and tea products.
