Calypso is a campus brand featuring the foods of Caribbean islands like Jamaica, Cuba and Puerto Rico and includes curry chicken, fried plantains, oxtail soup and goat stew.
Another campus brand, Damiens, menus deli sandwiches and lays claim to “the best hot roasted carved turkey north of Manhattan. Other campus brands at the campus center include Fountain Grill, the to-go place for all-day breakfast favorites, freshly grilled burgers, specialty sandwiches and milkshakes.
One of two new concepts at the campus center owned and managed by former Albany students (the other is Nikos Café, featuring authentic Greek cuisine like souvlaki and gyros), Halal Shack offers customized rice, lettuce and “zoodle” (zucchini noodle) bowls or naan bread-based sandwiches or wraps with Middle Eastern styled fillings and toppings. Other local brands in the complex include Cusato’s Pizza.
Starbucks brings not just its familiar beverage line but also its food offerings, including grab-and-go sandwiches, bowls and bakery items to the Albany campus center.
Star Ginger brings its Asian street food approach to Albany with a menu that features the big, spicy flavors of Thailand and the bright, fresh flavors of Vietnam as well as other popular and mouthwatering flavors from the rest of Asia. Another national brand, Hissho Sushi, offers the Japanese rice roll treats in both traditional and innovative flavor combinations, including vegan and vegetarian alternatives.
The campus center concept mix includes three in-house brands developed by campus dining services provider Sodexo, including Subconnection (pictured), Jazzmans Café and Tres Habaneros.
