The Compass Group/Chartwells Higher Education team worked with Northwestern student affairs department to transform the space into a perfectly up-to-date space with excitement for trends built into every square foot.
Last year, this is what the salad station looked like. Functional, maybe…but inspiring? No.
The new Roots & Seeds soup and salad concept is a refreshed version of the original, with a gleaming white cold wells and sleek light wood accents. This, and all the other new features, was revealed to the campus community Jan. 25 in a grand opening event.
Roots & Seeds also includes an inviting snack and beverage section.
The grand opening event featured games, giveaways and a taste of all the new concepts, including Budlong Hot Chicken, a Chicago concept that’s moved into the space to help build a local connection.
This burger station has been replaced with something that has a community connection.
Chicago chef Amy Morton brings her burger game to Northwestern, with stuffed burgers, salads, wraps and shakes. Plus, there’s kombucha on tap.
Morton, at right, pictured with a Northwestern employee, is known for serving “clean American grub” at a group of successful concepts around Evanston and Chicago, including The Barn in Evanston.
Self-serve kiosks are another feature that makes this makeover meaningful.
Dining tech at Norris now includes Boost Mobile Ordering, which allows customers to skip the line when ordering. Customers can pay with their meal plan or credit/debit card and can also stream their favorite tunes through the Rockbot app, enabled through the location.
It wasn’t too shabby before, but Northwestern’s pizza concept got a major makeover…
Mama mia! MOD Pizza is now up and running, featuring a totally on-trend look and…check out that pizza oven.
MOD pizza offers customizable pizzas and salads.
The deli has also been updated and upgraded.
This bowling-alley-themed space feels right at home in the Midwest.
Compass Group VP of Operations at Northwestern Jennifer Byrdsong describes the new dining center as having “an eclectic menu…and an engaging and inviting atmosphere that helps connect the Northwestern community.”
