The role of dietitian has expanded and accelerated in hospitals treating coronavirus patients, as malnutrition has been identified as a factor for “both susceptibility to the virus and increased morbidity,” according to Amanda Smith, VP marketing, patient nutrition for Sodexo Healthcare. This pushed dietitians to the front lines, even if in many cases they’re unable to meet with COVID-19 patients in person.
