The Southeast Polk (IA) Community School District plans to implement a pair of policy changes on unpaid school meal accounts after accumulating more than $40,000 in unpaid meals, reports the Des Moines Register. Until now, accounts with more than $25 in unpaid balances were turned over to a collection agency but the delinquents were allowed to continue charging. Now the district will halt accepting charges after a $25 negative balance has been reached and a $10 charge will be added once the collection agency is engaged.
