Kalispell (MT) Public Schools says it saves money by purchasing its beef from local producers, reports The Daily Inter Lake. The small local school system (about 6,000 students) says it is saving about $750 annually while adding about $35,000 to the local economy since it switched beef suppliers to a local processor that is able to shape beef from local cattle into the correct sized patties for school meal hamburgers.
