Ohio Sees Decline in Summer Meal Participation

The number of low-income children in Ohio taking advantage of summer nutrition programs has declined between 2010 from 2011

The number of low-income children in Ohio taking advantage of summer nutrition programs, including the Summer Food Service Program, on an average day declined from nearly 71,000 in 2010 to just over 66,000 in 2011, reports the Chillicothe Gazette. The numbers come from an analysis conducted by the Food Research & Action Center. The FRAC's numbers also track participation in other federal nutrition programs like the School Breakfast and National School Lunch programs both nationally and by individual states.
