School nutrition trending: 9 seriously cool menu items

In this month’s recap of the most popular K-12 stories at Food Management, the top story was about a school’s lunchtime queues becoming a thing of the past thanks to pre-ordering. Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale gave its 830 high schoolers access to a retail café located in the student union building where they can purchase specialty coffees, smoothies, breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, pizza and snacks. The café is open as soon as students arrive at school, during lunch, and during breaks. By contrast, the shared cafeteria is only open at lunchtime.
