By a 5-2 vote, the board of commissioners of Clark County, NV (Las Vegas), overruled the staff at the county detention center and renewed current contract holder Aramark Correctional Services for another year with a $5 million deal, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The staff at the 4,000-inmate facility had chosen the $4.74 million bid from California-based New Era Foods Co. but Aramark protested that New Era lacked the experience needed to properly manage foodservice in a correctional facility as large as Clark County Detention, and a majority of the commissioners agreed with that assessment.
