Harvard University Dining Services plans to eliminate most hot breakfast options in House dining halls beginning in the fall, reports the Harvard Crimson. Students will still be able to get breakfast in Annenberg Hall, in the campus’s venerable Memorial Hall. The move is partly due to a previously announced decision to cut the board rate students pay by 7.5 percent, and will save the College around $900,000 a year, according to HUDS Executive Director Ted Mayer. Mayer also notes that most students already don’t eat breakfast, at least not the hot items served in the Houses. The savings will allow for a 40 percent increase in the budget for Brain Break, Harvard’s late night self-service snack program.
