50 stories in 50 years: the 1990s

In the last decade of the 20th century, FM celebrated its 25th anniversary and debuted its annual Top 50 rundown of the contract management industry’s biggest players.

The 1990s saw FM under new management as the publication was purchased by Penton Publishing, which is now a part of Informa USA Inc., but it continued to delve into the issues of concern to its readers, such as commercialization, multi-department management, intercept marketing and branding, while also celebrating its 25th anniversary in 1997 with a comprehensive review of the non-commercial foodservice industry’s history from its beginnings. The following year, it launched the annual Top 50 Contract Management Companies roundup of the industry’s largest players that continues to this day.
