Brigham Young University Dining Services teamed up with the school's Student Alumni Association to create a mural out of 2,100 cupcakes for a fundraiser to benefit the local food bank in Provo, UT. The blue and white confections, arranged to form a picture of BYU mascot Cosmo the Cougar, were donated by BYU Dining and were sold off for $2 apiece, with the department adding a bottle of milk to students who used Cougar Cash for the purchase.
The event helped raised $3,900 for the Provo Food & Care Coalition, says Dining Services Dept. Secretary Wallis Rothlisberger, who spearheaded the idea and designed the grid on which the mural was based. The cupcake based fundraiser was BYU's contribution to the Valley United Against Hunger Food Drive, a partnership with Utah Valley University.
