The University of Notre Dame has begun offering halal meal options in its South Dining Hall to accommodate observant Muslim students, reports the Observer campus paper. The dishes use meats, primarily turkey and beef killed in the proper way that are sourced from primary vendor Gordon Food Service.
The food is currently served only at the South Dining Hal's stir fry station but may be extended to other venues and dining locations depending demand. Notre Dame's current population of Muslim students is small, consisting mostly of graduate students, but the school is looking to grow it.
