Twin Cities Districts Partner on Minnesota Thursdays Program

Joint program between St. Paul and Minneapolis Schools seeks to highlight local products.

Nutrition Services at Saint Paul Public Schools and Minneapolis Public Schools have partnered on a program that highlights locally-sourced food items. Called Minnesota Thursdays, it will feature seasonal Minnesota-grown ingredients on both school district menus on the first Thursday of each month.

The effort is a way to highlight local farmers, ranchers and companies while providing fresh, delicious lunch options for our students and part of the Farm to School program that aims to serve food from neighboring farms in school meals and teach students about local food, nutrition and agriculture while supporting the local economy.

The first Minnesota Thursday menu was presented on Sept. 4 and featured ingredients sourced within a 200-mile radius of the Twin Cities.
