It benefitted over the past year both from the general recovery of its client industries and from its own initiatives, which included the acquisition of Spectrum Catering, which extended its reach into additional complementary markets.

Following a full year organic revenue decline of 6.7% in fiscal 2021 over 2020, the industry’s largest player by far rebounded strongly in fiscal 2022, posting an all-time revenue high by topping its 2019 total of $20.1 billion. In its annual report, parent firm Compass Group PLC noted net new business growth of 9% for the North American unit, “reflecting both strong new business wins and continued high retention at 97.1%. Growth was broad based across all sectors, with strong wins from first-time outsourcing,” it added.
