FM Top 50 2015: No. 8 Trusthouse Services Group

Fiscal 2014 Revenues: $498,000,000

Trusthouse was formed by the 2008 acquisitions of three formerly independent foodservice management companies and supplemented with a series of subsequent deals, including former FM Top 50 firms A’viands and Valley Services Inc. Major recent initiatives have focused on streamlining back-of-house operations following the acquisitions.

This past year was the first full year Trusthouse operated as a subsidiary of European firm Elior SA, which acquired it in mid-2013 before executing a successful IPO last June on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The company saw continued growth in all core sectors in 2014. Its corrections unit introduced successful new programs that allowed relatives to purchase special meals and gift baskets online for inmates, which has been particularly successful. It also continued to focus on local sourcing, healthy eating and specialty diets in its education and senior nutrition businesses.

Trusthouse concentrates on the institutional market, believing that segments like healthcare, education and corrections provide more stability than market-dependent ones like B&I and recreation.
