Durham (NC) Bulls Athletic Park has been designated the most vegetarian-friendly minor league baseball ballparks in America by vegetarian advocacy group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Among its offerings, the ballpark menus veggie dogs and burgers, meatless burritos, fresh fruit cups and salads. Coming in second on PETA’s minor league Top 10 vegetarian ballparks listing was the Portland (OR) Beavers’ PGE Park, which offers veggie dogs, Gardenburgers, and catered specialties such as peanut-tofu skewers with pineapple and a fresh fruit and berry display. The number three spot went to the Norfolk (VA) Tides’ Harbor Park, which offers Gardenburgers, veggie dogs, a full salad bar, and spicy hummus. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 were McCoy Stadium (Pawtucket Red Sox), AutoZone Park (Memphis Redbirds), Harry Grove Stadium (Frederick Keys), MerchantsAuto.com Stadium (New Hampshire Fisher Cats), Fifth Third Ballpark (West Michigan Whitecaps), Cheney Stadium (Tacoma Rainiers), and Frawley Stadium (Wilmington Blue Rocks). Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, grabbed first place in the major league ratings by offering an extensive vegetarian menu, including the new Philly mock-steak sandwich.
