Before the refresh, the AIG café had begun to show signs of aging, leading to reduced participation in the face of increased street competition.
The refresh launch on Jan. 8 was preceded by a staff premeal meeting. To kick off the opening week, a DJ was brought in to mix tunes, and the week also featured giveaways, raffles and food samplings.
The Supersalads station offers salads featuring a variety of superfoods.
Bread St. has a selection of smartly crafted sandwiches toasted to order.
Al Forno is where customers find Neapolitan pizza and baked pastas.
Innovation Kitchen is a rotating action station that features a different local area restaurant each week.
The Pat LaFrieda grill station features items from the noted all-natural meats purveyor based in nearby New Jersey.
The Market Bar is a self-serve salad and antipasti bar.
The Bodega is a 24/7 self-checkout area featuring a wide variety of beverages, fruits, sweet and salty snacks, dessert items, grab-and-go salads/sandwiches, yogurts and a dried fruit and nut bazaar.
Among enhancements to the café as part of the renovation was the addition of a self-checkout kiosk and individual station ordering kiosks, such as the one here for Pat LaFrieda. About 40 percent of customers use the self-checkout on a daily basis, enhancing speed of service and guest satisfaction.
The renovated café is promoted through e-blasts, three flat-screens located around the dining room and advertising on the AIG social media site, where RA shares and posts photos of various food offerings.
