Feedback on feeding
On the last few days of MPS’ summer feeding program, kids and parents gave feedback on social media about their favorite menu items from the summer. These included chicken salad, tamales, orange chicken with brown rice and local turkey burgers. “It was so fun to read through their responses,” Polson says. “The parents just loved having the familiarity of items from our cafeterias at home for their kids.”
Fall boxes at MPS have even more variety of local produce than the summer boxes, since it’s harvest time. The first box included carrots from Open Hands Farm, tomatoes from Big River Farms and peppers from Hill and Valley Produce.
Breakfast components from MPS include both cold and reheatable items.
Fruits are showing up in the boxes in a combination of packaged and fresh.
Lunch items in the boxes include a grilled cheese, turkey burgers, sandwiches and more. MPS has a central production facility with the capabilities to package scratch-made food, and Polson says they’re planning to make even more items in-house, like beefy nachos. “Our Culinary and Operations team have a lot of awesome things for the fall,” Polson says. “Stay tuned!”
