USDA to Let Florida Oversee In-state Federal School Meal Programs

The USDA has agreed to allow the state of Florida to oversee federal school meal programs in the state effective January 1, reports the Sunshine News. The move will allow more local fruits and vegetables to flow to Florida's school cafeterias. The only other states that have such an arrangement are New Jersey and Texas.
