Stories from the front lines: Morrison Living’s director of business development on keeping seniors cool and comforted during pandemic

Special food truck events featuring sno-cones, video cook-alongs and more…a few ways Brian Brooks, director of business development for Morrison Living, is helping senior dining accounts care for one of our most isolated populations.

Based in Castle Rock, Colo., Brian Brooks covers five states in the middle of the country as director of business development with Morrison Living. He’s been helping Morrison accounts everywhere find innovative ways to make the best of a tough situation.

As the coronavirus pandemic has been making people of all ages feel isolated, senior residents in CCRCs are feeling the isolation big time, Brooks says, and that requires new ideas. One of the “silver linings” of this pandemic has been seeing various Morrison teams around the country come up with ideas that help seniors feel engaged and nourished.

Food as medicine, which had been gaining momentum as an idea well before 2020, is something Brooks is leaning into even more, with programs that provide both hydration and “a groove,” with planned snacks that get seniors up and moving during a scheduled snack time.
